All the Newcastle Commercial Photographers out there, how many of you can say you’ve officially shot a Dalek? I’ll admit it may have been with a camera and the boast isn’t maybe quite as daring as it sounds but it’s a pretty cool story all the same. I was contacted about this job by a London PR agency. They were looking at Newcastle Commercial Photographers in the hope one would be able to deliver a set of images worthy of the Dr Who brand. I’m happy they chose me as it was a fun shoot and to be up close with a real Dalek was brilliant.
The images are to be used for promotion of the Dr Who Symphonic. It’s a musical performance that will be taking place across six major city venues on 28th May this year. So far I’ve noticed the images have been featured on the Radio Times website, a Dr Who blog and in the print edition of the Daily Star. Hopefully it will help bring in a full house on the 28th!
The theme of the shoot was a Dalek Invasion of Newcastle and we used some of the iconic spots on the Quayside for the images. We also did a few shots outside the Radio Metro Arena where the show is to be held. Some of the staff willingly stepped in to flee the invading Daleks which was good fun.
